The following rules pertain to anyone who plays any animal or beast while on The Cliffs of Baldr. They are not up for debate.
Standard of Role-Play
- Role-playing an animal requires that one research their role and know it. When challenged by another player, possibly a staff member, you will need to explain what you are and why you are in the lands where you are. Be realistic, and chose an animal that would be believable to play within the region. If you are unable to do this, you will be asked to leave.
- Animals, except for a few notable intelligent animal races with the assistance of translators (i.e., The Spider-People/Kurii), did not talk with humans. This means that if you play an animal, you Cannot speak. Emoting is fine.
- Wild animals enter the heart of the village at their own risk. (I.e., Heavily populated areas such as the trading docks, the Long hall, or the Temple.) The outskirts or forested areas of the village are acceptable.
- It was challenging to tame any animal without training. Any 'tamed' animals MUST have their race-appropriate "Beast-Masters" WITH them to enter the heart of the village. (Not all races were capable of taming all creatures. Please research your beast-master role given your appropriate race.) Any animal not possessing the same will be counted as wild and may be hunted and/or killed in RP.
Larls were an animal that could not be fully tamed. Although there are instances of Larls being domesticated, they were not native to the north. Their Beast-Master must accompany anyone wishing to play a Larl.
Animal Combat Rules
- Beast Meter: All animals must be wearing the beast meters. Young or very small animals - such as Jits or Giani-will not partake in combat.
- Wild Animals do not raid with humans. -Wild Animals may defend themselves if raiders attack them, but at no point should beasts and animals fight alongside humans during raids.
- Any Wild Animal that is a Baldr resident has the right to attack humans though please keep it realistic. A wild Animal would not typically attack the heart of a village knowing that humans were a threat.
The only exception to this is Tamed beasts (sleens or Larls) WITH their beastmasters
- No Speed or Jump enhancers. This is a bannable offense 4. Weapons. - Beasts may wear Claws/Hooves for 40% damage and fangs with a max of 25% damage. - Kurii may use their weapons at normal damage.
Dual-wielding, meaning striking with any of these weapons simultaneously, will result in auto-capture. Period.
You must wear one or the other at one time. Logs of switching weapons may and will be requested should an issue arise.
- Deaths - Any beast that is downed may be killed with 3 emotes of 15 words of RP. - Beasts are not penalized by death timers, but they are out of RP for at least a half-hour before they are allowed to engage in RP again.
Realistically, the pelts of beasts were sought after and traded. Their meat was harvested and fed to the villages.
This does not mean they are KOS (Kill on Sight). Only hostile beasts may be slain in this way. NC of the death will and must be sent to a member of Baldr Staff. Animal players wishing to provide targets for residents to hunt may communicate this to players to encourage role-play.
- Kurii Agents would not raid with their Kurii Masters for fear of being killed once they are working with the Kur. Kur should not expect a warm welcome.
- Any known Intelligent Animal on Gor is subject to the human guidelines for raids/nonraids and RP etiquette. (I.e. Spider-People, Kur ect.) Please see the appropriate documentation.
