The following is the dress code within The Cliffs of Baldr Roleplaying Sim.
Secondlife is a limited platform, and not every race, occupation, or cultural group can be found. We actively recognize such, and we allow a reasonable amount of freedom when dressing the part of your character. We advise all players to research the race, culture, and occupation of the character you are playing and dress as reasonably close as possible.
Given this is a Northern Gorean sim, free women are allowed more freedom than usual, though not to the point of promiscuity.
Given the vast restrictions on men's wardrobe in Second Life, we allot some reasonable deviation from the books so long as it remains within Genre.
Bear in mind that while Torvaldslanders more often than not tended to be xenophobic, they prided themselves in their ways of hospitality. So long as someone came in peace and did not insult or threaten the land or the people, they would be tolerated. However, that doesn't mean that those not of the North wouldn't be given questionable looks for their attire or treated differently.
Use common sense and be practical when dressing your character. While your character may not be knowledgeable about Torvaldsland, there would be basic assumptions/stories/expectations that your character would grow up hearing about the North. (Even if it's wrong or bigoted depending on what race/culture you play as)
If you come to Baldr, you arrive knowing that you are entering a land with different rules and expectations than your character would be used to. Being from {insert random village/city name here} would not make you exempt from the laws and regulations within the Baldr Hold.
If you are free and you come looking like a slut, slave, or a thrall, expect to be treated like one. If you come looking like an eccentric, expect to be stared at. If you come looking like a known enemy for the village, expect to be treated with some resentment/hostility.

Men's Dress code
To make anything that furthered weapons of mass destruction beyond the primary sword/shield and arrow would likely subject yourself and those around you to Blue Flame. Even in the North. In Gor, the Priest-Kings did not allow the manufacturing of heavy body armor, and actively Blue Flamed people who attempted to manufacture such.
In Baldr's, we allow some freedom with this, with a few exceptions.
Not Permitted:
Full Plate Armor
Chainmail
Permitted:
Helmets and Headdresses
Armored Sleeves
Bracers
Pauldrons
Grieves
Boots
Appropriate jewelry/ornamentation based on your character's race, occupation, culture.
Basic Chest pieces (Stomach guards, harnesses, etc.)
Clothes acceptable to your race, occupation, culture.
Please note: Anything an admin deems unacceptable, or out of theme will be asked to be removed.

Women's Dress code
Women are allowed to dress appropriately to their race, culture, occupation, and marital status.
We do make some reasonable allowances for women, given the geographical location and practical implications of the placement of Baldr.
Residential Women of Baldr are permitted to wear:
Pants during hunting/fishing (Must be appropriate, anything scandalous will be dealt with icly)
Dresses
Bound Hair appropriate to marital status (Typically but not limited to braids for uncompanioned women and buns/updos for companioned women.)
Short Sleeves
Collar Bones/Shoulders can be exposed (Again though, nothing scandalous or it will be dealt with icly. Renaissances styled dresses are acceptable)
Makeup that is befitting of a Woman. (Again, anything excessive or scandalous will be acted upon icly.)
Not Permitted:
Excessive Cleavage
Midriffs
Overly Sexual clothing
Non-residential women:
Allowed to come to sim wearing anything that is racially, culturally, occupationally acceptable though bear in mind how you dress affects how you are treated icly.
Barbarians:
Please note, the chances of you being dropped on Gor wearing your earth clothing is unlikely.
Men would likely be redressed upon waking up.
Females would likely be naked or clothed in basic slave clothing.
Slaves:
Slaves may dress in anything their owner approves of icly.
(We understand some slaves may not have an official owner, and many slave players purchase their clothes. We ask you to be realistic. This is a colder climate, even while not being as cold as some Torvie sims. We also invite you to take into consideration the wealth of your IC owner. Not all owners were wealthy, and a baker's slave wearing gold and jewels is unlikely. Use common sense and dress the part. )
Anything wildly out of Genre will be asked to be removed by a member of staff.

Tattoos, Scars and Piercings:
As with all cultures what is typical is not always the norm. We allow for tattoos and piercings so long as it is accommodatable within your race/culture/marital status. As with the rest of the dress code if you have a piercing, tattoo, or scar that is outside of the normal parameters of the the cultural expectations expect to get weird looks, comments, and assumptions made about your character icly.
Examples of such would be Barbarians with modern tattoos, Torvaldslanders with Rune and sigil tattoos, Wagon’s people with piercings.
Again, if a player becomes oocly harassed in ims about these things expect the Admins to crack down on it. All concerns should be handled icly so long as the tattoo, scar, piercing is within cultural expectations. Anything out of genre will be asked to be removed.

Players of any Race or Culture:
We allow players of any race or culture to roleplay in Baldr and they may wear any clothing that is acceptable of their race/culture/occupation/marital status. We will work with reasonable flexibility given the limitations of SL. Anything that wildly deviates from the origin to an excessive degree will be acted upon icly. Or will be asked to be removed by an admin depending on the degree of deviation.
This includes but is not limited to:
Red Hunters
Alar
Taharian
Mamba
Southerner
Panthers
NOTE
Unless it is a matter of the clothing being out of Genre, all issues regarding clothing, hair, accessories, or lack thereof should be handled icly.
Anyone found harassing players oocly in ims will be dealt with by the Baldr Admin Staff.
The Admin team will handle matters of genre attire and should be brought to their attention as soon as possible.
