The following are the IC laws of the Baldr sim.
- Land Ownership and laws:
The Chieftain of Baldr, Ve Nattehrafn has declared the following laws to be followed inside his holdings.
- Men trained and capable of fighting who are of the hold are to be armed and ready for battle at any given time.
- All persons living in the hold will earn their keep or be made to earn their keep.
- Any person who resides within the walls of Baldr who has no family or kin to keep them will be housed either in the Woman's Hall or the Men's Alcoves according to their respective genders.
- All slaves are to be dressed in the long hall unless expressly asked to strip. Slaves and the men who ordered them to strip are expected to honor our women within the hall. Both bonds and thralls are welcome to serve in the hall.
- Only the Chieftain can declare war or make an alliance.
No party save the hold Jarl may make a declaration of war.
- Women are to be presentable and acting as free women.
- Subject but not limited to public humiliation, fines, or in worst-case scenarios to be thrown into the bond circle until she expires as a free woman or leaves as a bond.
- No free woman may be enslaved without informing the head of her family or the person that holds them as a ward.
- Baldr doses follow couching laws. while woman of the hold are free to enjoy the slaves of the hold. They are not promoted to take in the pleasures of a private slave that they do not own unless given persimmon to do so.
- if a free woman is caught couching a private slave not of their own with out permission of the owner they will be tossed to a bond circle.
- If a free woman falls pregnant by a slave other then her own. it will be seen as an act un becoming of a woman and will be tossed to a bound circle
No free woman may be enslaved for lack of a guardian as by default, her wardship would be that of the Hold Jarl while within our lands.
- Every hold member shall attend Jarl’s court and the feast after Jarl’s court when one is called.
- There is no claiming in the hold.
- The Chieftain's word is final on any matter.
- The Chieftain will set a council to be known as the village elders to speak on matters regarding the village though the choice to adhere to such advise remains to him.
- In the absence of the Chieftain, the next highest-ranking male currently present in the land will act as Chieftain until the Hold Jarl returns.
- (Typical order being, Overseer, First Axe, First Shield, Head Runepriest, the oldest male member of the Jarl's family descending down the line. Only After these options were exhausted would the top-ranking male warrior be picked)
- The following is the list of those acknowledged as the Village Elders.
- The Overseer maintains the property and belongings of the Chieftain in his place.
- The First Axe who is charged with maintaining the warriors of the hold and training them in battle.
- The First Shield is charged with maintaining the safety of the village while the Chieftain works.
- The Hall mistress maintains the stores that keep the hold alive in times of crisis and winter.
- The Jarl's woman as she maintains and advises the Hold Jarl.
- The Harold as he spreads the word of the village and maintains relations with other holds.
- Those of the Order of Baldr as they guide our spiritual journeys through this life and into the next.
- Those that sit at the head table

- The Jarl's woman
- The Hall Mistress
- Those that sit above the salt
- Those of the Order of Baldr

- Warriors acknowledged by the Hold Jarl

- All others are to sit below the salt.
- Head Seats
- The Marauder's Den.
- The Marauder's Den is a place for men.
If she does enter the Marauder's Den, it is advised to be done with that of her guardian, though that does not guarantee her safety.
- No man will be held liable for damages to any woman while in the Maurader's den, including stripping, beating, and potential rape of a woman.
- However, no attempts at slaving a woman while in the Marauder's Den will be honored either.
- If another man has an issue with any damages a woman takes while in the Marauder's Den, he has the right to challenge the offending man to a duel. (Defender's Choice applies here.)
- Though no action will be sought upon from the Council.
- Slavery
- Outside of the Maurader's Den, the slavery of a woman is to be brought to her guardian or the hold jarl. The slavery of a man is to be brought before a Jarl's court.
- Any woman found to be made a slave will be thrown into the Bond's circle. There she may expire as a Freewoman, or live as a slave. If the woman leaves the circle of her own free will, she is a slave.
If she wishes to die there, she may.
- Anyone bringing food, water, blankets, or any such aid while the woman is in the circle will suffer her fate.
- Men to be made thralls will remain a thrall until the predefined time of their punishment is up or until they have paid back their debt.
- Ownership of said slaves will go to those enslaving them.
- In the case of the slave being unwanted, temporary, or the likes will default to the ownership of the hall.
- Crime and punishment
- Any Free Person accused of any wrongdoing has a right to a Jarl's Court where they may petition their case to the Jarl and the Village Elders before their peers in the Long Hall.
- Depending on the case, all charges may be dropped.
- In the case of punishment, offenders may be dealt with according to their wrongdoing.
